June 13, 2017
It’s with great excitement that I get to share with you today that Katie Cashin Therapy will soon be welcoming a new staff member!
In just a few weeks, Rebecca Schaffner, LGPC will be bringing her talents and skills to Towson, where she will be seeing clients on weeknights and weekends. It has been a real joy to learn about Rebecca’s passion for mental health, especially in a time when there is great need for passionate practitioners. Along with her training and skills, Rebecca has an energized yet centered energy that I know will help her clients at Katie Cashin Therapy feel welcome, grounded, and affirmed. So without further ado, meet Rebecca…
I’m Rebecca and I’m a huge advocate for overall Well- Being.
My personal experiences of having migrated from Germany as a teen, growing up in a military family and having people dear to me struggle with mental health, have shaped my passion for psychology and ultimately counseling. I have personally come across cultural and other identity adjustment issues, anxiety, post- traumatic stress, and psychosis. Through this, I quickly learned that mental health is whole-health and that if you don’t seek needed help, you may suffer unnecessarily and don’t live your life to its fullest. To take care of myself I enjoy long and scenic hikes, fitness and meditation, and spending time with my loved ones!
I believe that your mind, body, spirit, environment and society in which you spend your time, play a vital role in your health. During therapy, I will take a whole -person approach and will utilize several mindfulness practices along our work together. We will work collaboratively each step of the way!
During therapy, I hope that you will be fully engaged in your sessions and that our therapeutic relationship will provide you the tools and confidence you desire to live a happy and functioning life! It is very important to me that you learn how to cope on your own and that whatever you learn during our work together, you will be able to use in the future.
Whatever brings you to therapy, I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and seeing you break out of your cocoon into a beautiful butterfly. Your well- being is my priority!
