This week the dichotomy of “sleep and waking” really stood out to me. For one, the days are getting shorter and as this happens we tend to naturally want more sleep. Our bodies want to flow with the natural rhythm of the seasons but often times it is hard to adjust to this new pattern. We want to stay up, get things done, and generally have a hard time letting go and listening to our bodies. While it easy to push ourselves above and beyond our limits, it is important to take a minute and check in. Is that stress coming from an urgent problem, or could it be a sign that we need to relax and nurture ourselves? Does that headache stem from eye strain, or have we been running around so much that we forgot to drink water? Many of our discomforts can be thwarted if we just slow down and listen.
